Overview

Climbing in northern Argentina

This program takes us from the tropical forests to the high Altiplano in northern Argentina. We will visit the sights in area from colorful mountains, salt flats, tropical forests to cacti filled valleys and the barren high plans of the Altiplano. The first part of this program we spend around the valleys near Salta trekking and visiting the sights as part of our acclimatizing. Once we are acclimatized, we to head further west to climb Nevado Chani, Cerro Tuzgul and Nevado Cachi. Once we have reached the summit of Cerro Tuzgul, we should be feeling well acclimatized for Nevado Cachi. Nevado Cachi is a much longer climb, where we follow the valley up to the mountain and need to make several camps on the route. Summit day is long as we must follow a broad ridge up and down to reach the very summit. On this trip we will be able to experience northern Argentina, different climate zonas and its culture.
