Inca trails and cloud forest
This trek starts just east of La Paz in the Cordillera Real and ends near Coroico, in the Yungas, a transition eco system between the dry Andes and the humid Amazon Basin. You will be following what is probably a Tiwanaku path which pre-dates the Incas but which was undoubtedly used by the Incas as well. The trek is approximately 56 km long and you will pass through a variety of climates. From Coroico you will have views of forested canyons and snowy peaks.
We will pick you up early from your hotel, and we will drive to La Cumbre, the start of the trek. There will be a short rise for about an hour to reach the pass of Abra Chucura (4859m), from there we will start to walk downhill. For part of the day we will be following a pre-Inca road into the village of Challapampa, where we will make camp for the first night.
1 hour drive, 5 - 6 hour trek (LD) camping
We will start to see the difference between the dry arid landscape where we came from to the sub-tropical vegetation into which we will start to descend. After 2 hours of walking we will cross Rio Chucura, and then Rio Jucumarini. The trail continues through several hamlets such as Buena Vista before we stop to make camp at Sandillani.
6 - 8 hour trek (BLD) camping
We will follow the pre-Inca paving from Sandillani to Chairo, where we will finish the trek and where we will meet our transport back to La Paz. At the end of the trek you can choose to stay in Coroico or go back to La Paz with the transport. Drop off at hotel.
2 - 3 hour trek, 3 - 4 hour drive (BL)

Recommendations:
Bring thin cotton long pants and long sleeve shirt for the insects lower down on the trail, and insect repellent.
