Climbing Chaupi Orco (6044m)

tab general

Chaupi Orco (6044m) is the highest mountain in the Cordillera Apolobamba mountain range which is located in the north of Bolivia near lake Titicaca and the Peruvian Border. This impressive peak is rarely climbed despite being on of the countries highest and having one of the largest glaciers in Bolivia. The mountain is in a very remote area of Bolivia, the landscape is beautiful and the environment pristine. Life for the local inhabitants continues in a traditional with little sign of modernity. It’s a step back in time - as well as being quite a few step upward in space! One of Bolivia’s great climbs and a truly memorable experience.
